She came on the scene in 1966 and was quite a hot item. She was blonde, of course. She was styling in her blue dress/pant suit with white polka-dots. She wore yellow shoes and a pair of black square-rimmed glasses. Her name was Mrs. Beasley. Mrs. Beasley was the favorite doll of a little girl named Buffy from the sitcom “Family Affair” that aired on CBS from 1966 to 1971.

Dear Sisters,

I have a confession to make. I love professional football. Go ahead, call me crazy, but if a football game is on T.V. I am tuned in, with or without my husband. I love everything about it – the performance of our National Anthem, our flag, fireworks, Hank Williams, Jr. – “Are you ready for some football?”, the lights, the cheers, the fans, the players, the music – all heart-pounding elements that make for a fantastic game.

Dear Sisters:

I arrived in my hometown in Southern Indiana this past weekend. As I walked up the steps to the house, I was greeted by my dad who was still working in the yard. It was obvious from the exhaustion on his face that he had been at this yard work since early that morning. Night was setting in and he was finally done, in more ways than one.

A friend told me that orthopedics is simply "carpentry on the bones." I believe that with all my heart - especially after Kendall's second surgery a couple of weeks ago. Kendall's ankle now contains some fancy hardware - one plate, one screw and 9 pins. Her surgeon wanted to remove the long screw that ran horizontally through her ankle. The only request Kendall had was to keep the screw.

Dear Sisters:

I went to the edge of our property to cut some tiger lilies and I saw them. Blackberries! The bushes were thick and rich with luscious berries. Some were red while others were purple and ripe for the picking. I ran to the house and got a bucket and started “reaping the harvest.”

Where did you spend the 4th of July? We were in Bardstown, Kentucky. It’s a 4th of July hot spot – that is – if you love music and outdoor dramas. Bardstown is the location of Federal Hill, also known as “My Old Kentucky Home”.
