Congratulations today to Richard and Nancy Jenkins on their 50th Wedding anniversary. They have served in almost every imaginable position since they joined this church 49 years ago. Almost all of their married life has been spent right here at First Baptist. And today is also Nancy’s birthday. I will tell you that this is their 50th wedding anniversary. I won’t dare tell you what number birthday it is! Happy Anniversary, Richard and Nancy! And happy birthday, Nancy!
We not only have many mission groups that go out from our church throughout the year, we also have individuals in our church that go with other groups to do mission projects. Ken and Kathy Wyatt have been on a medical mission trip all this week with another church from the area. Cathy Hill is leaving Saturday for Kenya, Africa to work with the wives of the pastors of the area churches. She will be co-teaching with a friend from Mississippi. Pray for Ken and Kathy as they finish their work and pray for Cathy as she leaves to go to Africa.
This Sunday we will finish our five week “Intentional” series. We have looked at Intentional Living, Intentional Giving, Intentional Praying and Intentional Relationships. We will finish up this Sunday with Intentional Mission. There are a number of different ways to go with this thought. We are on mission as a body of Christ. Our purpose is to take the Gospel to the Nations. And, of course, it begins at home. The world around us is our mission field. We are going to consider a passage from the book of Colossians as we consider our mission as the body of Christ this Sunday.
